According to a recent media monitoring survey by Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS), over a two month period, 20% or less of the stories in the newspapers or on television and radio considered women as subjects to be interviewed or focused upon in the news item. In addition, 0.03% of the stories carried a byline with a woman’s name.
As a result, due to support and training from Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC), many more women are becoming a part of the media environment as producers, anchors, newscasters, reporters and station managers.
