The South Asia Network for Community Media (SANCOM) extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who unfortunately lost their lives and those who suffered grave losses in the Nepal earthquake on April 25, 2015.
The tragic loss of lives and the resulting damages have been devastating and words cannot sufficiently express the sorrow felt by those of us at SANCOM. IT would be a formidable task to recover from a disaster of this magnitude. SANCOM stands in solidarity with the survivors through this difficult time.
The Steering Committee of SANCOM would especially like to our collective resolve of support to the community media sector of Nepal. Even as the extent of damages suffered by individual organizations is not known at this time, we are happy to note that many of our friends and colleagues in Nepal’s vibrant community radio movement are reported to be safe.
As and when we get more details of the losses on the community media outlets in Nepal, SANCOM and all of its constituent members would like to assure that we are standing by to lend our support to any efforts for reconstruction.
