Radio Sagor Dwip 99.2 FM, located on Hatiya Island in the Noakhali District, is the 16th community radio station to go on air in Bangladesh. This initiative is a result from support from Dwip Unnayan Sangstha (DUS), Hatiya Upazila, Noakhali, Bangladesh.
DUS is a philanthropic organization which is functioning since 1971 pursuing the aim to help the victims of the Liberation War of 1971 and devastating 1970’s cyclone affected households focusing on relief and recovery. It was an informal voluntarily initiative which took the organizational shape in 1982.
With the view to alleviate poverty; enhance empowerment; establish human rights; promote essential health care, disaster related education and socio-economic development of the poorest people of costal area; DUS now has formed as a potential and trusted indigenous NGO based in the offshore island of Hatiya under Noakhali district, locating almost at the mid coastal region of Bangladesh.
